PURPOSE: To perform simple dry flue gas desulfurization not requiring regeneration treatment equipment, etc., by forming the object materials from magnesium oxide obtained by subjecting magnesium compounds to heat treatment at a prescribed temp. ;CONSTITUTION: Magnesium compounds, such as magnesium hydroxide and magnesium carbonate are subjected to heat treatment in a temp. range of 200-800°C to form magnesium oxide, which is used as a desulfurizing agent and a denitration catalyst. In the magnesium oxide, the specific surface area is increased and the reaction velocity of desulfurizing reaction is increased, and the securing of water and the waste water treatment device required in a wet type method of magnesium hydroxide for dry type desulfurization reaction are not necessary. Since magnesium sulfate, a product after reaction, is water soluble and harmless, it is discharged to sea, and a regenerating device is not required. By the change in the surface properties accompanying the increase in the surface area, a lot of active points are caused to selectively proceed ammonia catalytic reducing denitration reaction, and denitrating performance is obtd.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
