PURPOSE: To continuously cast a composite material having a metal matrix by generating mixed movements by electromagnetic agitation in a mixture composed of molten metal and heat resistant ceramic particles. CONSTITUTION: A casting mold comprises a high-temperature zone 1 produced by a thermally insulating material and a low-temperature portion 3 produced with heat conductive materials where its walls are cooled by cooling fluid 5. The mixture 2 composed of the molten metal and the heat resistant ceramic is accepted in the casting mold and a solidified part 8 is formed by cooling the lower part. The solidified part 8 is gradually drawn and is continuously cast. Windings A to F are energized during that time to generate electromagnetic agitation force, by which the movements 10 and 11 are generated in the mixture 2 in a molten state at the meridian plane inclusive of a casting axis, by which the heat resistant ceramic particles are suspended and dispersed.
