PURPOSE: To obtain the composition containing a thermoplastic resin, a specific organophosphorus compound and a novolak resin, remarkably slight in drip of live charcoal to make a fire in combustion, excellent in flame retardance, impact resistance, heat resistance and fluidity and useful for parts of household appliance. ;CONSTITUTION: This composition contains (A) a thermoplastic resin, e.g. a polymer having a unit bond of formula I [R1 to R4 are H or (substituted) hydrocarbons}, concretely, poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether), (B) an organophosphorus compound having a hydroxyl group-containing aromatic phosphoric acid ester, e.g. an ester of formula II, etc. and (C) a novolak resin. Furthermore, the composition contains preferably (D) a triazine skeleton- containing compound and (E) a fluidity improver selected from (i) a copolymer resin consisting of an aromatic vinyl unit and an acrylic acid ester unit, (ii) an aliphatic hydrocarbon, (iii) a higher fatty acid, (iv) a higher fatty acid ester, (v) a higher fatty acid amide, (vi) a higher aliphatic alcohol and (vii) a metal soap.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
