METHOD FOR SUPPRESSING ANGIOPLASTY AND ANGIOPLASTIC DESEASE

PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting formation of blood vessel and/or blood vessel-forming disease, containing specific 2- phenyl-3-aroylbenzothiophenes as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition contains a compound of formula I [R1 and R3 are each H, CH3 , a CO-1-6C alkyl or a CO-Ar (Ar is an optionally substituted phenyl); R2 is pyrrolidino or piperidino] or its pharmaceutically permissible salt or a solvated material, preferably a compound of formula II or its hydrochloride as active ingredient. The compound is obtained by using a benzo[b]thiophene having 6-hydroxy group and 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) group as a starting substance and protecting, alkylating and deprotecting the starting compound. The compound has a reverse effect on growth of tumor, development of retinopathy or rheumatoid arthritis or development of psoriasis focus.
