PURPOSE: To make superior machinability and excellent cold forgeability compatible by shortening graphitization time and micronizing graphite grains after graphitization. ;CONSTITUTION: This steel has a composition consisting of, by mass, 0.1-1.5% C, 0.5% Si, 0.1-2.0% Mn, 0.005-0.05% Ti, 0.0015-0.0150% N, ≤0.0030% O, at least one kind selected from 0.1-3.0% Ni, 0.1-3.0% Cu, and 0.1-3.0% Co, and the balance essentially Fe and containing, if necessary, prescribed amounts of Cr, Mo, V, Nb, Pb, Te, P, Ca, Bi, Se, S.
