PURPOSE: To automatically rotate the display picture according to the rotation of the ultrasonic probe. ;CONSTITUTION: Two accerelation sensors 2a and 2b which detect the accerelation of directions (a) and (b) which cross in parallel to the scanning surface (g) of an ultrasonic probe 1 and at right angles with the center axis (e) of a scanning surface (g) are separated by a specific distance in the direction of the center axis (e) of the scanning surface (g). ACPU 12 detects the rotation angle θ of the ultrasonic probe 1 based on the intensity of accerelations A and B which ate detected by the accerelation sensors 2a and 2b and th difference of codes. A DSC5 provided with display picture rotating function rotates the display image on the CRT 7.
