SEARCHING AND TRACKING METHOD FOR AERIAL MOVING TARGET FROM UNDER WATER

PURPOSE:To provide a method for searching and tracking an aerial moving target from under water which can search and track a moving sound source such as an aircraft, etc., which moves in the air in an underwater runner by providing a towed passive sonar instead of the searching runner. CONSTITUTION:The method for searching and tracking an aircraft 11 comprises the steps of receiving sound transmitted under water of radiated noise of the aircraft 11 by a towed passive sonar 13 connected to an underwater runner 12, analyzing its receive signal to identify a type of the aircraft 11, assuming or estimating a radiated noise level responsive to the type of the aircraft 11 and a flying altitude, estimating a distance and a bearing of the aircraft 11 under water based on the level and the altitude of the aircraft 11, thereby searching and tracking the aircraft 11.
