METHOD OF SERCHING AND CAPTURING SIGNAL FROM GPS SATELLITE BY MULTICHANNEL GPS RECEIVER AND THE RECEIVER

PURPOSE: To reduce a necessary time for the initial determination of position by parallely searching an initial signal from a GPS satellite relating a PRN code through the multichannel of a GPS receiver, and turning the receiver off. ;CONSTITUTION: To a multichannel correlation unit 26, various psuedo-random number correlation codes and phases decoding information carried by the spector diffusion communication. A GPS navigation computer 28 calculates some tentative distances to a visible GPS satellite, and by use of orbit data table and satellite data fed periodically from the satellite, the point of measurement is determined by the triangulation with the GPS at the specified position. The computer 28 divides an apparent doppler frequency spectort into some segments and by use of a plurality of GPS receiver channels, parallel search is carried out in each segment.
