MAGNETIC SCALE, AND MAGNET DETECTOR WITH THE MAGNETIC SCALE

PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic scale where the layout distance between a magnetic field strength element and a magnetic pole is narrowed, and a magnetic detector where S/N ratio and resolution are improved. ;CONSTITUTION: In the magnetic scale which has a magnetic pattern with a specific magnetic field strength distribution consisting of a plurality of magnetic field generation means 12 and where the magnetic field strength at the magnetic pattern side regularly changes in (x) direction, at least one set of magnetic poles 12a and 12b are provided at the specific positions in (x) direction with at least two magnetic poles 12a and 12b of N and S poles which approach mutually in (y) direction nearly crossing the (x) direction and are exposed at the same surface side as one set, thus effectively eliminating the routing of magnetization which is opposite to that on the magnetic pole near the detection height between magnetic poles and narrowing the layout distance between a magnetic field strength detection element and the magnetic pole and hence providing a magnetic type detector with improved S/N ratio and resolution.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
