ANTIMICROBIAL POTTERY AND ITS PRODUCTION AND GLAZE AND PAINT USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To give an antimicrobial action to a glaze or a paint itself, and to obtain an antimicrobial pottery with the same. ;CONSTITUTION: The surface of a molded base material is coated with a conventional glaze, further coated with an antimicrobial glaze comprising the mixture of conventional glazing raw materials with metal silver, silver oxide or a water- insoluble, slightly soluble or easily soluble silver compound, and subsequently sintered. Or a conventional paint is mixed the above-mentioned silver compound, coated on the surface of a pottery, and subsequently sintered. Further, a suspension containing the metal silver, the silver oxide or the water-insoluble, slightly soluble or easily soluble silver compound is coated on the surface of the pottery base material, and the water contained in the coated suspension is impregnated into the base material to collect only the silver compound on the surface of the base material, followed by sintering the coated base material. The raw materials of the glaze or the paint are mixed with the metal silver, the silver oxide or the water-insoluble silver compound to obtain the antimicrobial glaze or paint.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
