PURPOSE: To obtain in high selectivity an asymmetrical bisindoline pigment excellent in application properties such as fastness and stability and desirable for coloring plastics, printing inks, or the like, by reacting a compound, obtained by reacting an isoindoline compound with a diamine compound, with an isoindoline compound. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective pigment of formula V is obtained by reacting an isoindoline compound of formula I (wherein A is a methylene-active compound group such as =C(CN)₂, O, or S; and the ring D is a (substituted) 1,2- phenylene) with a diamine compound of formula II: H₂N-L-NH₂ (wherein L is a divalent group or a chemical bond) in an inert organic solvent to obtain a compound of formula III, reacting this compound directly or after isolation with an isoindoline compound of formula IV (wherein B is a methylene-active compound group different from A, O, or S) in the presence of an acid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
