PURPOSE: To enable the joining of stitching threads simply by guiding a stitching thread in use and a stitching thread to be used next to a thread tying machine, thereby simplifying the mechanism for the color-change of the stitching thread and facilitating the adjustment and maintenance of the mechanism. ;CONSTITUTION: Two or more thread packages 60 holding wound threads 61 having different colors are placed under a stitching machine table. A stitching thread 61 is selectively pulled out from one of the thread packages 60 to a part above the stitching object on the stitching machine table by the cooperative action of a vertically reciprocating hook needle and a synchronously rotating looper to perform the chain-stitching of the object. This chain-stitching machine having the above construction is provided with a thread tying machine 52 placed above the thread package 60 to perform the tying of two stitching threads and a thread-guiding mechanism to enable the guiding of a stitching thread 61a in use and a stitching thread to be used next to the thread-tying machine 52 in the color change of the stitching thread 61.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
