PURPOSE:To obtain a covering material capable of promoting or inhibiting the straight growth of a plant and suitable for protected horticulture. CONSTITUTION:A covering material which can control transmission of natural light so that the transmitted light may have an A value represented by formula I [R is light quantum beam of red color having 600 to 700nm; Fr is light quantum beam of far infrared having 700 to 800nm] within a range of =0.9 (or 1.3 to 3.0) is provided. In addition, a resin plate and a rein film respectively produced by kneading a pigment of formula II to III with polymethyl methacrylate are exemplified as the covering material.
