PURPOSE: To obtain a rapid cooled metallic thin strip having good quality and uniform thickness by suitably controlling gap between the tip part of a supplying nozzle for molten metal and the surface of a cooling roll along the generator of the cooling roll. ;CONSTITUTION: The molten metal in a tundish 1 is continuously supplied onto the cooling roll 3 rotating at a high velocity through the supplying nozzle 2 to continuously produce the metallic thin strip. The detected value detected with a gap detector 4a at the right side is transmitted to an arithmetic unit 5a. In this arithmetic unit 5a, a deviation quantity between a preset gap reference value and the detected gap value is calculated and transmitted to an interference correcting quantity arithmetic unit 6. In the same way, in an arithmetic unit 5b, a deviation quantity between the gap reference value and the detected value is calculated and transmitted to the interference correcting quantity arithmetic unit 6. In this interference correction quantity arithmetic unit 6, the sum of the calculated interference correction quantity and the deviation quantity is calculated, and the obtd. result is transmitted to control quantity arithmetic units 7a, 7b. In the control quantity arithmetic unit, a control variable is calculated and a tundish driving devices 8a, 8b are driven to adjust the gap to a desired fixed value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
