HEAT EXCHANGER USING TWO-PHASE INTERMEDIATE FLOW

PURPOSE: To reduce manufacturing costs and the risk of leak by a method wherein heat exchanger chambers are laminated vertically to be separated by partitions and first and second bundles of tubes with adjusted interval thereof are run through to eliminate the need for more of welding. CONSTITUTION: First and second bundles of tubes 16 and 18 may not pass through partitions 14 in the way of being kept sealed but the interval thereof is adjusted to minimize the dimensions. A reduction in the interval between the tubes 16 and 28 and the horizontal partition 14 can increase a loss of a head on both sides of the partition 14 when a two-phase intermediate flow falls down. In the steady state, the loss of the head enables maintaining of the minimum height of the two-phase intermediate flow in liquid within each heat exchange chamber 12. In the construction based on three heat exchange chambers, the saturation temperature of the two-phase intermediate flow rises in the direction of a lower chamber from an upper chamber. Thus, the outlet temperature of steam near an outlet collection tube 36 can be kept higher than the outlet temperature of sodium of an outlet collection tube 24.
