PURPOSE: To prevent the defective discharge of residual molten steel and slag in a tundish after completing the casting and to stably execute rotative operation in a hot condition by lowering molten steel surface level in the tundish in a specific condition at the end stage of continuous casting. ;CONSTITUTION: The molten steel surface level in the tundish at the end stage of the continuous casting is lowered while securing the higher position from the bottom part of the tundish by the interval of 100-250mm in partition weirs 3 or preventing weirs 4 for discharging the residual molten slag. By this method, fluidity of the molten steel from a flow-in chamber 9 to a steel tapping chamber 8 is improved and the temp. drop range of the molten steel can be reduced by reducing the molten steel quantity in the flow-in chamber 9 at the time of completing the casting.
