PURPOSE: To melt molten steel at high hitting rate of components by deoxidizing the molten steel in the optimum adding quantity. ;CONSTITUTION: At the time of reduction-recovering valuable metals in easily reducible oxides from floating slag on the surface of the molten steel into the molten steel, a sample sampled from the slag is reduced with carbon to measure the content of the easily reducible oxides, and also, the surface positions of the slag and the molten steel are detected. The thickness of the slag is calculated form the difference in the detected surface positions and the slag wt. is obtd. based on the slag thickness and the necessary adding quantity of reducing agent is calculated from the contents of the easily reducible oxides and the slag wt. to charge the reducing agent into the slag in the adding quantity of the calculated result. By this method, the valuable metals, such as Fe, Mn, Cr, are recovered from the slag into the molten steel in the little consumption of the reducing agent, and the molten steel having a composition matched with the aimed composition at the high accuracy is produced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
