PURPOSE: To specify, change and hold geometrical tolerance data along with design components in a three-dimensional drawing by selecting the type of tolerance and inputting the size of the crossing to a CAD system. ;CONSTITUTION: A center line 40 is defined by the axial center of a columnar opening in an object 32 and a datum is specified for the center line 40. Also, a datum symbol 26 is imparted to the center line 40 and thus, it is indicated that a center line datum is specified for the center line 40 and the datum symbol 26 shares one (sub line) of the ridge lines with the center line 40. Then, a desired type is selected from some utilizable tolerance types by using a screen cursor. After specifying a specified tolerance type in such a manner, a designer inputs the tolerance value of a specified geometrical element such as a plane and the center line, etc. At the time of wanting to refer to the datum, the designer selects the datum to be referred to and selects the various geometrical elements to which the tolerance is applied.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
