PURPOSE: To provide a method and an agent for subjecting animal hair fibers to a shrink-resisting treatment, capable of giving excellent shrink resistance to the animal hair fibers without deteriorating the original touch of the animal hair. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for the shrink-resisting treatment of animal hair fibers comprises the first treating process for treating the animal hair fibers with the first aqueous treating solution containing a water-soluble phosphine compound and the second treating process for treating the treated animal hair fibers with the second aqueous treating solution containing at least a non- phosphine compound selected from a B-1 group consisting of the following compounds: (1) to (12). (B-1); (1) an epoxy compound, (2) an ethylene imine compound, (3) a urea compound, (4) a thiourea compound, (5) an alkylene carbonate, (6) an unsaturated carboxylic acid and its derivative, (7) an unsaturated nitrile, (8) an unsaturated alcohol and its ester, (9) a vinyl group-containing sulfonate (salt), (10) a cyanate salt,sulfate ester, (12) a vinyl group-containing silane coupling agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
