PURPOSE: To provide a moving picture editing system which reduces complicated operation by simultaneously displaying future information of the same moving picture to let a user prepare for operation at the time of editing with the moving picture displayed. ;CONSTITUTION: When the moving picture read out from a moving picture controller 104 or a storage device 107 is displayed on a display device 102, a navigator screen other than a main screen for normal moving picture display is provided in the vicinity of the main screen, and a scene at a certain time after the editing scene of the same moving picture is displayed. Time information of respective scenes are added to the main screen and the navigator screen. When the main screen is used to edit the moving picture, the user sees the navigator screen to recognize the following scene of the moving picture and its time and takes the timing of editing operation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
