SEAL GAS FOR CONTINUOUS STEEL CASTING AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING STEEL

PURPOSE: To prevent the air oxidation of molten steel and to reduce the quality defect caused by non-metallic inclusion to a cast slab, at the time of continuously casting the steel. ;CONSTITUTION: Seal gas mixed with 0.1% to 4% gaseous hydrogen to inert gas is used to the continuous casting seal in the range from a ladle 1 containing a tundish 2 and a nozzle 3 to a mold 6 and cast. Even if the air is mixed, the seal gas layer exists between the molten steel and the mixed air, and the air oxidation of the molten steel is prevented by consuming the oxygen in the air with the gaseous hydrogen in the seal gas.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
