PURPOSE: To quantitatively evaluate the performance of an ABS with high accuracy by testing on a stage, by a method whereby a vehicle on the stage is put on the brake, the generating number of times of the change of the brake force and whether the brake force exceeds a permissible limit are detected, and whether the ABS(anti-lock brake system) performs properly is totally determined. ;CONSTITUTION: When a vehicle equipped with an ABS is braked, it is controlled so that, the brake force is reduced before the rotation of wheels becomes 0, and increased when the wheels start to rotate again. The brake force is changed like a waveform through repeated operations as above. In order to evaluate the ABS, how many times the change of the brake force of an amplitude between upper and lower reference levels (a) and (b) is repeated in a preset measuring time T is counted by a control unit. Only when the number of times is a preset regular number of times or more, and further not beyond the preset upper and lower permissible limit levels (c), (d) the ABS is determined to operate normally.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
