PURPOSE:To allow separation and analysis of lipid substances by using porous ceramic particles having hydrophilic surface, prepared by firing a crystal clay mineral having multiple chain structure, as a separation agent. CONSTITUTION:A crystal clay mineral having multiple chain structure includes sepiolite, attapulgite, palygorskite, etc. The material is ground and granulated by extrusion granulation or rolling granulation to produce a granular material having a specified particle size, which is subjected to primary firing at 100-1200 deg.C. It is then subjected to acid treatment in order to remove alkaline oxides and further subjected to secondary firing. Subsequently, it is subjected to water screening, wind screening, sieving, etc., to obtain particles having specified size. The porous ceramic particles thus produced has hydrophilic surface, volume center bore in the range of 0.001-0.1mum, and the content of SiO2 of 60% or above. The separation agent is quite stable even in an eluate having high pH or polarity.
