CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF ALLYLIC GRIGNARD REAGENTS

PURPOSE: To obtain an allylic Grignard reagent useful as a synthetic raw material for medicines, agricultural chemicals, etc., in high yield for a short time by continuously reacting metallic magnesium with allyl halides. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for producing an allylic Grignard reagent expressed by formula II (X is Cl or Br; R¹, R² and R³ each is H or a 1-4C alkyl) is to react a compound expressed by formula I with metallic magnesium in an organic solvent (e.g. THF) at -50 to +80°C) for 0.1-5hr. The metallic magnesium is used in a molar amount of preferably 1-1.2 time based on the compound expressed by formula I.
