HANDWRITTEN SYMBOL ENTERING FORM AND HANDWRITTEN SYMBOL RECOGNIZER

PURPOSE: To provide a handwritten symbol entering form which attains a high recognizing rate and also to provide a handwritten symbol recognizer which recognizes the handwritten symbols to be entered in the handwritten symbol writing form. ;CONSTITUTION: A guide symbol consisting of plural guide lines showing a broken line form is written on a handwritten symbol writing form 1. A handwritten symbol recognizer 2 consists of a segmenting means 23 which segments the binary image data on each guide line written on the form 1 including the nearby areas of the guide line, a producing means 24 which produces a histogram by totalizing the value of the binary image data segmented for each guide line, a detecting means 26 which detects the converting state of each guide line into a solid line by evaluating the continuity of the data value of the histogram, and a recognizing means 28 which recognizes the handwritten symbol written in the form 1 based on the pattern form of the guide line converted into a sold line and to be detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
