ADDRESS LEARNING EQUIPMENT IN CLAD

PURPOSE:To relieve the load required for learning an address table while keeping the accuracy of learning in a CLAD decomposing/composing a packet into an ATM cell. CONSTITUTION:Upon the receipt of a BOM cell and an SSM cell from an ATM transmission system to a buffer 1, a control section 2 registers address information such as a sender address, a VPI and a VCI in the cells to an address table 3 in addition. The control section 2 sorts the content of the table 3 based on the sender address when the idle area of the table 3 is deficient or the load is light asynchronously to simplify address information in duplicate and plural sets of address information having the same sender address by the majority decision system. Upon the receipt of a packet from a LAN such as an Ethernet by a buffer 5, address information having the same address as a destination address in the packet as a sender address is retrieved from the table 3, the VPI, VCI in the address information are used and a table generating section 6 applies ATM cell processing to the received packet.
