WEFT KNITTED FABRIC FOR INTERIOR DECORATION AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE: To obtain a weft knitted upholstery fabric soft in touch and giving a velour-like feeling by incorporating a ground yarn and a chenille yarn and knitting the chenille yarn as fully loop stitches. CONSTITUTION: Such an air-textured polyester yarn having 550-900 decitex, preferably 500-800 decitex fineness and 0.1-0.4 yarn-to-metal friction coefficient is used as the ground yarn. Such a nylon strand having a low melting point is used as the chenille yarn as has a polyester or nylon core having 2,000-5,000 decitex fineness, preferably 1,000-2,000 decitex fineness and is obtained by arranging a polyester pipe having 1-4 de/fil twisted degree and 1.4-1.75 mm length to extend substantially at right angles to the core and has 0.2-3 yarn-to-metal friction coefficient. The chenille yarn is knitted as fully loop stitches. The fabric is knitted as single or double jersey having 10-16 stitches/inch in the row direction and 20-40 stitches/inch in the column direction.
