The packaging element has a supporting surface (3) raised from a base surface (2) and adapted to abut against the end surface of the packaged article. A number of projections (4,5) protrude beyond the level of the supporting surface and abut against side walls and end walls of the end of the packaged article. The supporting surface constitutes the bottom of a box-shaped recess (6) in the rear of the packaging element, the recess being adapted to receive accessories for the packaged article e.g. electric cable, tools etc.
