The invention relates to the use of test strips with a flat, preferably elongate sheet which carries a matrix with a photoactive chromogenic substance for prior determination of the possible period of exposure to the sun without sunburn, to a test system for this determination containing test strips and a test strip pack, to a test strip pack and to a method for the prior determination of the maximum possible period of exposure to the sun without sunburn using the test system.
