A method and prefabricated element for making a sunken track in the ground, which track is used for a road, railway or the like, in order to be able to carry out transport activities along it, wherein the cylindrical- shell-like prefabricated element is made beforehand from castable material, such as concrete, and in predetermined dimensions, soil is removed from the ground in the form of the outer periphery of the shell-like element, the shell-like elements are successively placed against one another in order to form a channel, a hardened structure is arranged in the said channel in order to support the intended road or railway, with the result that the sunken track can be obtained in a simple, inexpensive and environmentally friendly manner without having to lower the water level.
