The invention relates firstly to a completely new type of method for controlling and monitoring locks in a bicycle shed, in which the locks which are arranged on separate bicycle securing means are controlled centrally by electronic means; instructions are displayed to the user on a screen which is visible from outside, and the user, preferably by means of a keyboard, inputs a code, which he selects himself, to a memory of a microprocessor, and the user, after he has closed the bicycle securing means, opens the means again by inputting the selected code to the microprocessor. An alarm signal is emitted in the event of irregularities. The invention also provides a bicycle shed which is suitable for use with the inventive method.
