Apparatus for laying seeds includes a towable frame (1) from which one or more blades (3) art supported for cutting a slot in the ground surface below, a seed and fertiliser chute (6) feeds seed into the cut ground surface via a channel (9, 11) formed between the frame (1) and blade(s) (3) and tines (4) which make a horizontal branch cut from the slot.
