Method and system for transferring liquid material from the metallurgical furnace to a ladle, particularly from the blast furnace to a pig ladle, where the liquid metal is moved by gravity from the furnace tap hole via hot metal runner, and transfer assembly to pig ladles placed at least at one pouring position, characterised in that the hot metal runners are gas-tight covered, and a free space between the flowing metal surface and gas-tight cover is relatively small, whereas inert gas is introduced into the free space, and the ladle transfer assembly is gas-tight covered with inert gas also introduced into its internal space, while the inside of the pig ladles is kept filled with inert gas, whereas the stream of liquid metal flowing from the liquid metal transfer assembly opening to the pig ladle is concentrically covered by inert gas with substantially circular cross-section.IMAGE
