The filter incorporated in an X-ray appts comprises at least a niobium metal foil having a max. thickness of approx. 75microns. Additional filtering foils can be fitted to the niobium metal foil, whilst maintaining the overall max. filter thickness at approx.microns. The filter is encased in a trasparent cover consisting of a flexible plastic, which can incorporate a colour backdrop comprising a cardboard material, whereby the colour identifies specific information regarding the filter. The overall filter arrangement remains flexible. The preferred thickness of the niobium metal foil ranges from 25 to approx. 75microns.
