An automatic device for introducing insulation into the cavities 3 of supporting bodies for the windings of electrical machines, especially for the windings of stators and rotors R of electric motors, comprises one or more pairs of pre-shaping rollers 7, 7'; 8, 8'; 9, 9' which impress predetermined longitudinal bending lines 102, 202 on to a strip of insulating material 2; at least one pair of driving rollers 9, 9' which feed the strip of insulating material 2 to the cavities 3 of a rotor R through a shaping channel 26, in which the strip of insulating material 2 is bent around the predetermined bending lines 102, 202 into a shape having a cross section matching that of the cavities 3. There are also provided means 40 of aligning the cavities 3 with the exit of the shaping channel 26; means 53 of timing the advance travel of the strip 2 in a succession of advance steps, each corresponding to the complete introduction of the strip 2 into a cavity 3; and cutting means 32 for separating the portions of strip 2 introduced into the cavities 3.
