Process for inertization of industrial, toxic and noxious wastes, essentially of inorganic nature, characterized by the fact that the wastes are essentially subjected to the following operations: - mixing of the wastes, which preferably represent 30 to 50 wt% of the total dry mixture, with clay, preferably of the illite or kaolinite type and water; - homogenization of the mixture so produced; - electro-osmosis treatment of the homogenized mixture to eliminate the intramolecular and interparticulate water with formation of a consolidate with a permeability coefficient preferably less than or equal to 10-7 cm/s; and - possible improvement of impermeabilization of the consolidate so obtained by addition of resin. The amount of water to be added to the mixture as a function of percentage of residue being treated is calculated with diagrams whose trend varies with variation of the employed clay. The figure shows one of these diagrams relative to a kaolinite clay. The invention also extends to the product obtainable by this process and to its use, for example, for filling or remodeling of natural or artificial cavities with environmental recovery of unusable spaces.
