The device is a silencer of a novel type for machines that discharge air or compressed gas in pulsed mode. The pulse, which enters via the nipple 2, causes a sudden compression of the foam rubber ball 6 against the exit filtration disc 5, with two important effects: 1) an adequate internal volume is released to contain the pulse of compressed gas; 2) the contact patch of the ball on the disc is greatly increased, reducing the area available for the gas to flow to the exit. The pulse is thus decelerated and damped at its moment of greatest amplitude and vice versa, resulting in extended release time. This achieves: 1) superior silencing; 2) insignificant formation of ice due to the physical law of expansion of gases; 3) great constancy of operation. IMAGE
