The present invention relates to a working stump for the formation of stumps for fixing dental prostheses used in dental implants. The working stump comprises a base element with an elongated form which is made of metallic material and which has one of its longitudinal ends which can be combined with a retention element inside the bone structure and an end element made of material with a low melting point which can be combined with a seat defined in the other longitudinal end of the said base element. The end element may be replaced, using a disposable-wax melting process, by a metal which is attached to the base element and which reproduces the end element with regard to its form and its orientation relative to the base element forming, together therewith, a retention stump for dental prostheses.
