A shaped lining, partic. one for inside cars, has at least one fabric cover layer and a thermoplastic non-textile stable substrate both these two layers plus any further layers are made of non-crosslinking polypropylene. The top layer is e.g. woven, knitted, tufted or needled material and e.g. 3-8 mm thick. Its polypropylene fibres are designed to have low shrinkage after shaping, and to have high thermal stability and low sensitivity to light when in serivice. It is bonded to a polypropylene base which neither is nor can be foamed but is therefore solid material of thickness 0.5-5.5 mm. The base layer is pref. selected to have the desired stiffness, sound absorption, toughness and stability. The top cover layer is pref. an isotactic polypropylene with Vicat softening pt. above 125 deg. C. The two layers are heated so as to fuse the surface of one into that of the other. The structure of the prod. can have three or more layers if desired. ADVANTAGE - The plastic material of the prod. can be used again in producing new linings, i.e. recycling is completely practicable.
