A data setting system for terminal units by means ofan optical wireless signal includes in the respectiveterminal units a data storing means and a receiving meansfor the optical wireless signal and, in a data operatingdevice separate from the terminal units, an operatingmeans for preparing and transmitting a setting signal tothe terminal units. The data setting for the respectiveterminal units employed in a remote supervisory andcontrolling system with a multiplex data transmissionutilized is thereby made attainable at a remote positionfrom the terminal units through the optical wirelesssignal.
