An investment cast bronze end effector blade for adisposable laparoscopic surgical instrument having a push rodis disclosed. The end effector blade has an aperture forengaging either means which couple the push rod of theinstrument to the end effector blade. The end effector bladehas a body member having a distal element and a base elementintegral with integral first and second masses of bronze. Thebase element is an extended portion substantially parallel toand in an offset configuration with the sharp edge portion,and includes an aperture to which the coupling means couples.The first mass of bronze integral with the investment cast endeffector blade bridges the offset configuration between thesharp edge element and the base element. The second mass ofbronze integral with the investment cast blade partiallysurrounds the aperture of the base element and extends to theend of the base element remote from the distal portion.
