The invention relates to a method and to a device suitable for use in the replacement of anodes in a dry-method aluminum electrolysis process involving heat recovery. New carbon anodes, which are arranged on the anode rods, can be preheated by utilizing the residual heat of the residual anodes that have been removed from the molten bath and/or the hot bath material that has been taken from the molten bath and subsequently preheated and transferred to the molten bath. Heat is recovered and exchanged with the aid of a heat exchanger which may be a multi-chamber system.
