Alkaline Liquid Hard-Surface Cleaning Composition Containing a Quaternary Ammonium Disinfectant and Selected Dicarboxylate Sequestrants

Disclosed is an alkaline liquid bard-surface cleaning and disinfecting composition. The composition comprises from about 0.001 %to about 15 % by weight of a C4-C7 dicarboxylate or hydroxydicarboxylate, from about 0.005 % to about 10 % by weight of a quaternaryammonium disinfectant, from about 0.001 % to about 15 % by weight of a detergent surfactant, a pH of from about 8.5 to about 13, fromabout 15 % to 98 % by weight of water, and from 0 to about 20 % by weight of an organic solvent having a hydrogen bonding parameterof less than about 7.7. The composition can be used to provide streak-free cleaning and disinfecting of hard surfaces. Moreover, in thepresence of the selected dicarboxylates, the quaternary disinfectant retains its disinfectancy properties and does not precipitateout of solution. The composition can be prepared as a dry formulation.
