An oscillometric method for determining the hemodynamic parameters of the arterial portion of a patient's circulatory system, consisting in recording of pulse pressure waves (3) in a major arterial vessel (1) under examination, due to the effect of a linearly varying pressure (2) in a vessel-constrict-ing pressure measuring cuff (10), with the result that a closed contour (ABCDLKFEA) is formed within a single measuring cycle, which is established by straight lines (AB), (BC), and (CD) in the diastolic portion of an oscillometric curve (4), and by straight lines (EF), and (FK) and KL) in the systolic portion of the curve (4), points (B), (C), (F), and (K) of intersection of said straight lines being the signs of the arterial pressure, and amplitude values (Cc) and (Bb) of the aforementioned pulse waves (3) in the contour determine geometrical parameters (dS) and (S) of the major arterial vessel (1) under examination; a measuring system for carrying the method into effect geatures a linear characteristic of conversion and a straight horizontal amplitude-frequency response in a frequency range of approximately from 0 to 50 Hz along the entire path of conversion, amplification, and recording of signals.
