The invention relates to a single modemulti-cavity microwave filter that includes ahousing formed with a plurality of walls whichdefine at least two rows of side-by-side dielec-tric loaded cavities, wherein sequential cavitiesare coupled to one another via slots or probesin the walls therebetween and at least one pairof non-sequential adjacent cavities are coupledvia a slot or probe. The coupling via the slotsis defined mathematically as positive coupling.The probe is selectively configurable to providepositive or negative coupling relative to the signof the slot coupling. Further, at least one non-adjacent, non-sequential pair of cavities is cou-pled via a second probe that may be configuredto provide either positive or negative couplingrelative to the sign of the slot coupling. Thefilter housing supports a plurality of adjustablefins which extend into the slots, one fin to eachslot, to selectively adjust the size of the slot.
