This relates to a process for the manufacture of padding for articles of clothing, which provides for the use of a sheet of synthetic fibres which is subjected to spraying or spreading or mixing with thermoplastic resins, subjecting the aforesaid thermoplastic resins and the synthetic fibres of the sheet to heating and performing one or more hot rolling treatments on the sheet processed in this way so as to obtain a padding of suitably reduced thickness; the corresponding padding also forms an integral part of the invention.
