TREATMENT OF CONTAMINATED WASTE WATERS AND GROUNDWATERS WITH PHOTOLYTICALLY GENERATED HYDRATED ELECTRONS

A method of processing sewage and contaminated ground water containing organic contaminants that may be decomposed by hydrated electrons. It consists in wastewater or groundwater in contact with an electron generation agent hydrated during the photolysis. In addition, subjecting the waste water or groundwater to irradiation with UV light to cause photolysis of the hydrated electron generating agent, and get hydrated capable of decomposing the contaminants electrons. According to one embodiment, use is wastewater or groundwater in contact with the generating agent and hydrated electrons with a reducing agent in order to recycle the hydrated electron generating agent.
