USE OF AGGREGATED PROTEINS TO PROLONG RETENTION TIME OF A THERAPEUTIC AGENT ADJACENT A TARGETED SITE SUCH AS A TUMOR

The invention relates to a method for prolonging the time it takes the system of a living being to remove a therapeutically effective agent to a targeted site such as a tumor or a tumor-bearing region in said human being . The method comprises selecting the particles of aggregated protein such as albumin macroagrégée. The protein particles are provided to the target site in the living being. A therapeutically effective agent such as colloidal radioactive phosphorus is then supplied to the target site in the living being. In another embodiment, the therapeutically effective agent may be mixed with a second aliquot of aggregated protein particles in order to obtain a mixture. Said mixture is then supplied to the target site in the living being. The aggregated protein may be any suitable protein such as albumin, gamma globulin or peptides particle size of about 10 to 70 micrometers. In a preferred embodiment, the target site is the tumor itself.
