Process for raising the molar aluminium/chlorine ratio in polyaluminium chloride solutions

A polyaluminium chloride solution having a molar Al/Cl ratio of /= 0.5 is brought into contact with a galvanic cell consisting of metallic aluminium and an electrochemically nobler metal and kept there until the solution has been saturated with aluminium.
