Phase/neutral conductor circuit breaker with reduced space requirement

A phase/neutral circuit breaker housed in a single casing of standard size is described. The separation partition (22) is located in the main in the middle plane of the casing (12), in particular between the terminals (36, 38; 32, 34) and the respective arc-extinction chambers of the first and second compartments (28, 30) for phase and for neutral. The bimetallic strip (40) extends fully into the first compartment (28) inside an extra space (72) confined by the lateral offset of the partition (22) projecting into the second compartment (30), the length of the space (72) in the longitudinal direction being slightly greater than the maximum distance of deflection of the bimetallic strip (40).
